Hi! My name is Thomas Ragnarsson and I am a chair at the DBI technology network. I work as a counsellor for the Swedish National Agency for Special Needs education and Schools. Me and my colleagues daily work is to support teachers all over Sweden in their work teaching children with different disabilities. Our support contains of courses, counselling, workshops and helping out with accessible teaching materials.
Part-time I also work for the National Center about Knowledge for Persons with Deafblindness. At the center I join a group that are specialized in technology and personal aids. One of our goals is to support the organization who delivers personal aids to the target group.
I am a part of this network because I think it is important that pupils with deafblindness get hold of proper technical tools. I also think it is important that we teachers share our experiences from working with these tools with others. Sharing is to speed up the process to find more proper ways to teach the pupils we meet.
1:29 Dick Lunenborg comes into view. He says:
My name is Dick Lunenborg, I work at the Bartiméus institute and I am also one of the chairs of the technology network.
It’s my daily job to research, develop and implement technology for persons with complex needs.
For me, it is important to share worldwide our knowledge and experiences to prevent re-inventing the same wheel over and over again.
2.00 Mijkje Worm comes into view. She says:
And my name is Mijkje Worm and I work at Bartiméus, which is a care organization for people with visual disabilities in the Netherlands. I work there as a psychologist, specialized in the field of deafblindness. And together with Dick and Thomas we form the Deafblind International technology network. And of course with many other network members as well.
We all have our own goals, but we have a common interest in deafblindness and technology. And for me one of the most important things is to lay connections between researchers and practitioners and people with deafblindness and the industry in order to get the best assistive technology to the people with deafblindness. The people who need them the most.
